JA Solar, a leading player in the renewable energy sector, has announced the start of its global rollout of commercial and industrial (C&I) battery energy storage systems (BESS). The company’s first shipment, totaling 2.32 MWh, is on its way to Nairobi and Kisumu, Kenya, introducing the JAPlanet liquid-cooled outdoor cabinet to the African market.
The system integrates advanced liquid-cooling technology that keeps cell temperature differences within 3°C, ensuring durability and stable performance even under harsh climate conditions. With AC-side efficiency above 90% and ultra-fast mode switching of less than 20 milliseconds, the solution offers seamless operation across grid-tied, off-grid, and generator scenarios.
Africa, with its abundant solar resources, faces unique energy challenges such as unreliable grids and high fuel costs. The JAPlanet system is designed to tackle these issues, delivering stable and cost-efficient power while reducing reliance on diesel generators. It is particularly suited for critical applications in locations such as hospitals, factories, and commercial enterprises that require consistent power supply to maintain operations.
JA SOLAR leverages strong R&D, a global sales network, and innovative "solar+storage" solutions to deliver reliable, efficient energy systems that meet the specific requirements of local markets. With a growing presence in major African markets including South Africa, Morocco, and Nigeria, the successful debut of its C&I energy storage solution in Kenya reinforces its commitment to advancing sustainability and powering a greener, brighter future in Africa and around the world.
